Residential placement sought
Appeal on Sections B, F & I (not an extended Appeal) YP 17 attending setting on a day placement requesting residential placement for 52 weeks. YP preference and PP. Clear evidence he needs to be away from home. Progressing well educationally, but health and social care elements strongly point to a residential placement. Social care and health have gone as far as they can - no action. They will not tri-partie fund. YP will improve health and hygiene significantly being away from home (Mum is a trigger for extreme OCD) cannot see how we can argue out of it. Tribunal will likely take the view that an improvement in health and hygiene will educate or train as will lead him to be able to seek work experience/employment in due course? Anyone any experience of a similar case - settle/defend? Thank you!

Very much agree with Paul's comments about health and hygiene. If hygiene in house is that bad, SEN would hopefully have leverage with Social Care to get more involved.
